You really are what you eat

We have all heard this saying time and time again, but the reality of the matter is that this is absolutely true.
Food is nothing more than fuel - at times we seem to lose sight of this very basic premise in favour of flavour and personal gratification. The case for returning to the mindset that food is fuel will completely change the way you live your life.
One cannot expect to be a picture of glowing healthy living on a diet of highly processed, highly manipulated artificial food products - this is drummed into us time and time again through the media as we watch obesity, cancer and childhood disease rates soar. Yet surrounding all of this media publicity regarding the "obesity epidemic" are televison ads and marketing campaigns for ready to eat snack foods and fastfood multi-national corporations, who at the end of the day are really only interested in their bottom line, not your bottom line!

The holistic lifstyle is one the promotes wholeness and balance. It is one that takes just a little more thought, and as a consequence a little more time as well. But as another old saying goes " a stitch in time saves nine..."
What can be more important than the state of your health? Working to live, to pay the mortgage, to buy more stuff; - all of this does not really matter in the grand scheme of things if your health suffers as a result. There are always options and choices. This is the beauty of the state of our civilisation - we all do have choices!!! Embrace them. Make different choices. Learn about the options for yourself. Some simple changes in choices, like what we choose to eat, can make the world of difference in the long run. Be proactive. Investigate. Read labels. Cancer-causing dioxin found in German meat E-mail

Another example of meat contaminated with excessive levels of cancer-causing dioxin has emerged in Germany, with other European countries quickly acting to pull products from the shelves.

The scandal broke after regular random testing revealed excessive dioxin levels in eggs in Western Germany.
Test have shown levels in feed pellets to be at 77 times the accepted legal limit.
