Conventional Medicine E-mail

If you have found your way to this website in a search for "the natural options" when it comes to your own healthcare, chances are that you are a little apprehensive about our convential western medicine. We certainly advocate that everyone takes an interest in their own health and learn all you can about your options in the event that you are in need of some specialist intervention. We feel that convential medicine certainly has it's place within the field of healthcare, and by no means advocate that people dismiss it as an option, or disregard the advice of their medical doctor. What we do suggest however is that we all need to, as a society, take a little more interest in our own personal healthcare, and DO THE RESEARCH!.

If you are unwell and need to go to the doctor, do a little research before you go. Give yourself some credit to assess yourself and what ails you, after all it is your body and you have the most experience in knowing how it feels. Search the internet or even better buy a few books to help aid you in this. We have some great links on this website to books to get you started. When you are with the doctor ask them about the chemicals that they wish to prescribe. Ask to see the drug companies terms and conditions / information sheet that they are legally obliged to put into each branded pack. This information sheet is sometimes not given out to you at the pharmacy as they buy the chemicals in bulk and distribute them out to you, the end user, in smaller amounts, and often in unbranded boxes or containers. Ask to see the research that the doctors have about this chemical in regard to any potential side effects. Discuss the risks and rewards associated with using this chemical, and ask if there are other alternatives such as adjusting your diet to add or eliminate certain foods.
If your doctor says that they either do not have the time or the access to the information, ask if you can make an follow up appointment (at their expense) to discuss this. Afterall, it is your body, and some of the side effects of some of these drugs are potentially life altering. Some of these drugs are also semi-experimental, in that the long term effects of the drug are not yet known as they haven't been around long enough to know what the implications are of taking some of these drugs over extended periods.
