Using egg as a hair care product E-mail

Eggs are a great ingredient, not only in cooking, but also for hair care. Easy to source, and a natural alternative to chemical treatments, egg yolks are recommended for hair care by many because of their nutrient and protein content. Almost any method of using raw egg yolks when caring for your hair will work because of the nutrients that eggs contain.

The most common method is simply beating two egg yolks and mixing with a tablespoon of castor oil, adding small amounts of water to the mix if neccesary. Smooth through hair from the roots to the tips and leave for half an hour if possible. This recipe can easily be added to, with extra ingredients such as honey (which has mild lightening properties) lemon (with similar properties) or lime. Almond oil is also a beneficial ingredient and can be mixed in with egg yolk.

When rinsing the egg mixture out, be careful that you are thorough in order that your hair does not look greasy. You may want to use a natural shampoo after you have used the egg treatment to be sure. Be sure to use lukewarm or cold water when rinsing, to avoid making accidental poached eggs!
