The team behind theNaturalOptions.com Print E-mail

Thankyou for taking the time to find out more about our website theNaturalOptions.com.
We have worked hard on making this site a great resource, for both ourselves and for all that come across it on the web. It really is a labour of love, but love it we do!!
We have been ardent users of "alternative medicines" and natural health and home products for all of our collective adult lives. All those involved in the site to date are very passionate about this very large "holistic living" topic. In this very fast paced, modern world one would think that information be easy to access. This is rarely the case. You can find out a sometimes overwhelming heap of information about almost anything these days, but is it quality? Can you trust the content? Are the producers of the information actually attempting to sell you something in the process?
This has been our experience sourcing natural living / holistic information in the past, and thoroughly reinforced as we build this website. Information is either scattered over the web, or found getting dissected and discredited at the hands of chemical and drug companies, or it is on sites that are flogging products and the information is skewed to temp you to part with your cash.

This is not what this site is all about! Our core values of this website are motivated by an overwhelming personal need to have a central reposititory for all manner of natural options information, links, articles and resources. A place where we can send people to in order that they can access different information and perhaps gain a deeper understanding of a topic in the comfort and safety of their own space. It is also a website designed to reconnect us personally with all of this wonderful knowledge that was once passed down from father to son, from mother to daughter. From a quieter, simpler time when different things mattered. This knowledge is seemingly skipping generations, and will soon be lost to the younger ones - the playstation generation. Ask around your friends - how many of them would really know how to harvest seed, store it effectively for several years, grow it into vital food crops, protect and care for it without the need for massive amounts of introduced artificial chemicals, then harvest and store it for future use, or refine it into other food products. Maybe it is just easier to go to the supermarket...........but this is not really the point. When we lose our natural world knowledge base we also lose our self sustainability, a trendy catch phrase for the current green movement, but also just a word for our ability to actually look after ourselves in the outside world - the world of nature, plants, other animals, weather, storms and seasons. A place we all came from, a place so few of us in the west connect with on an intimate level anymore.

It seems that as a culture we have chosen to forgo alot of this knowledge as irrelevant. We rarely have any need to know where our food comes from, and what processes are behind it's production. Likewise we blindly trust our healthcare professionals to take responsibility for our health, and correct it when something is amiss. The products we put onto and into our bodies, and that of our children, we just assume to be safe. We also assume that the companies behind these products are operating to standards in our best interests, rather than those which represent the best bottom line for them, and their best interests as a profit making business accountable to others. We are it seems, putting alot of trust and faith in others, and that everything will continue happily on the same path that it has for the last few decades. But I guess that last statement depends on where you live in the world!

The team behind this site are The Big Picture Productions, a web design & multimedia company based in Nelson, at the top of New Zealand's beautiful, quiet, clean and green, South Island. We are taking on the task of creating this extremely comprehensive website using all of our collective skills and resources in our "spare" time. We work in media every day, so know the ins and outs of media spin, and felt it was time we gave back to the internet community by creating a site for purely positive reasons. We are realistic however, and need this site to take care of itself in the very least. We are not charging for any information, not now or in the forseeable future.
What we would rather do is create a site that is well researched, informative, and full of links to products, books and resources we think are beneficial. If you use our links to get to these things we make a little money off each transaction. This will help keep the site growing. We also want to create an attractive platform for advertisers to enter into advertising partnerships with us. We are not going to let any advertising adjust our content AT ALL, you have our word on that one!
